AUTHENTIC LEADERSHIP:

Authentic leadership is a leadership style that emphasizes the importance of genuine relationships and meaningful connections with others. It involves creating a sense of purpose and shared goals within a group, rather than solely focusing on achieving specific objectives. By actively engaging in interpersonal relationships and sharing personal narratives, authentic leaders foster a deeper sense of connection and promote the interconnectivity of individuals.

Vulnerability plays a crucial role in authentic leadership. By opening up and sharing personal experiences, leaders create an environment that encourages others to do the same. This deeper level of sharing allows for more authentic and relatable relationships to develop, leading to increased trust, understanding, and collaboration.

An example of authentic leadership can be observed in the context of my Leadership in Context Capstone. During this experience, I chose to share a personal story about my lifelong struggle with anxiety and how I have gradually overcome it. By sharing this deeply personal narrative with my peers, I was able to move beyond surface-level relationships and cultivate more meaningful connections. This act of vulnerability not only created a space for empathy and understanding but also highlighted the significance of sharing stories as a means of fostering relatability and connection.

Authentic leadership goes beyond problem-solving, it revolves around empowering individuals and building lasting relationships. Through the sharing of personal stories, we can learn valuable life lessons from one another and learn more about them throughout our networks. By prioritizing authentic leadership, we contribute to a more inclusive and interconnected environment that promotes personal growth, collaboration, and collective success.
